Assets in UAE

DNO’s licenses within well-defined petroleum systems in the Emirates strategically position the company for both on- and offshore production, also setting the stage for future expansion opportunities.

RAK B

The RAK B field is located 54 kilometers offshore from the city of Ras Al Khaimah in the Gulf. The field includes the well RAK B-1, drilled  by another operator in 1976, a process that discovered oil with good reservoir characteristics at the Ilam level. In addition, an extremely rich gas condensate exists at the Thamama level, three additional appraisal wells have been drilled in order to delineate the structure.

With increases in oil prices combined with improvements in technology, the RAK B field reserves are now deemed to be commercially viable, and DNO plans to drill an appraisal well on the field next  year followed by a simple unmanned platform development.

RAK Saleh

DNO holds 70%, and is operator of the Saleh field, a 7 well, 6 platform facility with interconnected pipelines and export line, located 45 kilometres offshore in the Gulf. Producing oil and gas since 1984, the field peaked at approximately 70 million cubic feet per day of gas and 13,000 barrels per day of condensate in 1986; production has since declined due to pressure depletion and water breakthrough.

Following a Field Development Study, DNO believes the field has unrealized potential, and although operations on Saleh 5 were suspended due to difficult drilling conditions plans are in place to re-enter Saleh 7 and drill to the Thamama late 2012; after the completion of three wells in Block 8 Oman. In the interim the field will be produced on an intermittent basis. Field Development planning is well advanced and it is anticipated that four to five wells will be re-entered and four platforms upgraded during the course of the next two years. Product will be delivered to the onshore RAK Gas processing facility via an existing pipeline.

RAK Onshore

In November 2008, RAK Petroleum signed a petroleum concession agreement with the Government of Ras Al Khaimah that encompasses an area of approximately 850 square kilometres on the onshore coastal plain and near shore transition zone.

The company has now positively identified Lower Cretaceous carbonate reservoirs in deep foreland basin structures, as well as Palaeozoic reservoirs in the northern part of the concession area. A seismic acquisition campaign of 250 kilometers was undertaken during the second quarter of 2011, setting the stage for further exploration.
